Allow me to answer your questions regarding chiropractic care

Chiropractic is a science, a philosophy and an art which preserves as its foundation the presence of an organizing intelligence at work in your body. Consider for a moment how your breakfast becomes your hair, skin, liver, muscle, bone, etcetera … how is that anything short of miraculous?

There is an organizing intelligence at work in our bodies and its communication pathway is the nervous system. When our body is completely connected … that is, when it is plugged into that communication network (our brain, spinal cord, and nerves) and we are free of any interference to that communication, we have the ability to reach our greatest potential. If there is interference to the nervous system then, that is when the chiropractor’s art enables your body to right itself.

Chiropractic is about your life and it is about your nervous system. How well your life is running is directly related to how well your nervous system is functioning. Chiropractic is a safe, gentle, effective approach to health and vitality for the whole family from the newborn to the centenarian.

The art of chiropractic is the adjustment. There are twenty-four movable bones in your spine that were specifically created so that you can move in all kinds of fun ways! They also serve to protect your spinal cord; the information highway from your brain to the rest of your body. If those bones are not moving correctly or are misaligned, irritation to the surrounding tissues can interrupt or agitate that information highway. That’s when the adjustment serves to restore function to your spine and, subsequently, function to your whole nervous system and to the rest of your body.

The chiropractor uses their hands as well as instruments and specially designed tables to deliver the adjustment. It is a unique vector of correction to a specific bone in your body. Each adjustment is different and is tailored to the person receiving it based on their size, age and health issue.

The adjustment is usually comfortable and elicits relaxation as pressure is relieved from the nervous system. Sometimes the tissue surrounding a misalignment is sore from inflammation and irritation and can feel tender. The experience of being adjusted is different for everyone. As stress and tension are immediately released after the adjustment, some will sigh, cry or laugh … others feel like taking a nap and some feel energized and creative.

There are many different styles of adjusting and Dr. Michele will work with you to discern which style of adjusting best serves your nervous system. Dr. Michele has trained in the historical techniques of chiropractic as well as the most current, cutting edge approaches. You might find your experience with her is like nothing you’ve experienced before. Her approach is thorough, safe, gentle and effective.

Dr. Michele’s post-graduate studies are applicable to both children and adults:

Everyone with a spine can benefit from chiropractic adjustments and that includes our furry friends! Everyone has endured the three stressors that contribute to dis-ease in our bodies: physical, emotional and chemical. The birth process itself can be a source of physical stress to the newborn. As children, we fall some 35 times a day as we learn how to walk. As adults … whether a weekend warrior, couch potato or accomplished athlete … our lifestyles provide continuous stress to our bodies.

There will always be stress in our lives, whether good or bad. It comes down to how well your body is adapting to the stress in your life. With chiropractic and a clear nervous system, you are better equipped to take on the demands of your life.

Subluxation is a term chiropractors use to refer to a misalignment in your spine. The word subluxation breaks down to mean “less than a dislocation”: sub = less than, luxation = dislocation. The Association of Chiropractic Colleges defines subluxation as “a complex of functional and/or structural and/or pathological articular changes that compromise neural integrity and may influence organ system function and general health.”

What does this mean to you? When you understand that every cell, tissue, organ and system in your body is controlled by your nervous system, you can begin to understand how any disconnect in that communication can affect your body.

A dropped cell phone call is annoying. But a disconnect between your brain and your body can seriously limit and/or degrade your health.

If you are in pain, you are lucky. Only 10% of your nervous system perceives pain — at least your body is letting you know that there is a problem!

Dr. Michele understands that the most important goal for you right now is to get out of pain! Chronic pain is debilitating and brings your enjoyment of life to a screeching halt. Her goal is your goal; she wants to see you pain-free.

How long it will take is directly related to how long the problem has been around. You might think that the pain you started to feel last week, only began last week. However … more often than not, the pain you feel today is the result of a dis-ease process that began long ago — possibly as early as birth.

Dr. Michele will be able to tell you how she has seen cases like yours respond to care in the past. Results vary, based on age and lifestyle. Your health choices are a major contributor to your recovery as well.
